During this panel discussion, community leaders will examine the issue of Arizona's non-discrimination law, including the benefits of updating the law to include LGBTQ people would bring to our economy, culture, and workplace. Leaders will discuss past approaches and efforts over the years while conversing about ways to bridge the political divide. Panelists will discuss lessons learned and how we can work together in a bipartisan fashion to update Arizona's nondiscrimination laws to include LGBTQ Arizonans.

SESSION 1 - January 13, 9:00am - 12:00pm
LGBTQ+ 101 & 201: Take a deep dive into the terminology needed to understand the distinction between sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and the LGBTQ+ community as a whole. Learning how to understand and speak the language while creating a safe space for questions gives your team the confidence it needs to create the affirming workplace you desire.
THE UNITY JOURNEY: Embark on an empathy building exercise that takes you through the experience of coming out as LGBTQ+. Discussion and sharing throughout the exercise allows your team the time to process and bond together, as they prepare to take the next steps in their journey.
STATE of LGBTQ+ AZ: This presentation offers an in-depth assessment of the current state of affairs for LGBTQ+ people in Arizona. Featuring existing policies, issue analysis, economic data, and action items, the presentation serves as a road map detailing where we are, where we need to go and how to get there to become a state that celebrates, respects and protects us all equally.
DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION SESSIONS
SESSION 2 - January 20, 9:00am - 12:00pm
INCLUSIVE WORKPLACES: Start your journey by creating a baseline of common language around Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. This interactive session lays the groundwork by providing participants with the DEI basics the dimensions of diversity and identity, bias, and micro aggressions.
ALLIES & UPSTANDERS: In this interactive session, participants will learn their role in being an Ally to folks from marginalized groups. They will also take on the role of an upstander who is willing to take action. This session also provides tools for giving & receiving feedback and how to have brave conversations.
SESSION 3 - January 27, 9:00am -12:00pm
POWER & PRIVILEGE: This interactive session dives into power dynamics and systems of oppression. The participants will have a better understanding of how power and privilege work and what they can do to increase the power with others, so everyone has an equitable opportunity to succeed.
SAFETY & BRAVERY: Knowing better means doing better. In this session, we focus on building trust throughout the team so folks know they can show up as themselves and be respected as individuals. We provide tools for participants to create spaces of safety and bravery within their own teams.
