The EEOC's lawsuit against Scottsdale bar raises questions nationwide
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a complaint last Friday Jan. 20 alleging that two staff members of 5th and Wine were harassed for "being gay- and the perception of being gay," which led to one of the employees quitting and the other being fired. Buzzfeed wrote an article that questioned the direction LGBT issues will take under Trump's administration according to the Phoenix New Times. They reported the White House didn't respond to Buzzfeed's question about whether or not it agreed with EEOC's view on sex discrimination also covering gay employees. They also raised concern about the Attorney General's stance on LGBT issues.
