With Arizona’s ban on same-sex marriage overturned, a couple that’s been together for 57 years will finally celebrate a marriage ceremony this weekend.
Nelda Majors and Karen Bailey will have a private reception at The Farm for friends and family on Saturday evening, November 22. They will also have a public ceremony at The Orpheum on Sunday, November 23, at 2 p.m.
The couple met 57 years ago in college when Majors was 19 years old and Bailey was 18. They explained that the most difficult part of their relationship was the pressure to keep it a secret.
The couple contributed to efforts to defeat Arizona’s ban on same-sex marriage. Now that the couple can get married, they want to celebrate this victory with the community. Read more »
